The Hague: According to the National Institute of Public Health, the Dutch authorities discovered 11 new cases of the new and emerging coronavirus that were discovered in the United Kingdom on Monday after recording the first infection in early December.

"So far, a new strain of the British Coronavirus has been found in 11 people in the Netherlands," the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment said in a statement.

The institute clarified that only one of the persons concerned has links with the United Kingdom, and confirmed that this matter is indeed related to the development of the Corona virus spreading in the United Kingdom.

The institute stated that it is still investigating the source of this infection.

Studies done in the UK show that the British strain is more contagious than the original strain, but there is no evidence that it causes a more serious form.

After discovering a mutated coronavirus infection, the Dutch government suspended all passenger flights from the UK on December 20. The virus has spread to parts of the Netherlands since early December.

The government requires expatriates wishing to enter the Netherlands to show the results of the tests to prove that they are not infected with the new Corona virus, and the Netherlands has recorded more than 710,600 cases of the epidemic.
