Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump split up,

Mitch McConnell strongly condemned the use of attempts at "sweeping conspiracy theory" to reverse the failure of the 2020 presidential election.

Republicans from Kentucky delivered a speech during a joint special meeting of Congress to confirm Joe Biden's victory in the Electoral College.

Mitch McConnell said, "If these elections are canceled based on the claims of the losing party, our democracy will enter a cycle of death. We will not see the entire country accepting elections again."

President Trump's Republican allies plan to veto the results of several state elections.

Encouraged by President Donald Trump unfounded accusations that the elections were riddled with fraud,

Arizona was the first to vote in an election in which several states challenged some Republicans.

It looks like Congress will reject all of these challenges on Wednesday and formally acknowledge Biden victory.

Mitch McConnell said that although there were irregularities in all of the elections, they "did not reach the absolute scope of bias for the entire election."

"We cannot simply announce that we are the National Election Commission. The voters, the courts, the states are all talking ... if we cancel it, it will harm our republic forever ."

Mitch McConnell cautioned that if unfounded doubts were raised, public suspicion alone could not justify a veto of the election.

Mitch McConnell called for a "shared commitment to truth" and a "shared respect for the fundamental rules of our system."
